Throughout his career, the Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had an interest in the design and production of simple and austere furniture designed for a wide audience. In his designs he used traditional and durable materials, such as natural wood, manila cane, cattail or textiles.
The chair mod. 186, designed in 1961, is made up of a pine wood structure with a beveled backrest and a braided bulrush seat, and represents a clear will to recover and update the popular wood and bulrush chair, perfectly synthesizing the simplicity of its author's ideas. and modernity.
