Josep Maria Magem
Josep Maria Magem (Sabadell, 1941-2017) developed his activity in the field of interior design and furniture design, and especially in lighting. Starting in the 1960s with the Marset firm and later with the Madom company, Magem created a series of highly modern pieces based on complex geometric shapes, mainly metallic, in which chrome plating and a very particular use stand out of color and its finishes.
Magem defined himself as an artisan designer. Due to the context in which he developed his activity, in those years, the lack of material and productive resources made it difficult to assume the formal and technical challenges that he proposed. Magem applied material manipulation processes with artisanal techniques and managed to produce pieces of great technical complexity and formal beauty.
