José Antonio Coderch
José Antonio Coderch de Sentmenat (1913-1984) is recognized as one of the main architects of the renovation of post-war Spanish architecture. A member of Grup R since 1951, together with other young architects such as Antoni de Moragas, Oriol Bohigas or Francisco Juan Barba Corsini, he developed his own architectural style highly influenced by the contributions of the Modern Movement.
Its relationship with the design of objects is limited to the production of a small number of pieces conceived as utensils, product of a continuous process of refining traditional shapes, techniques and materials with which to achieve greater simplicity and functionality. The formal result of these designs becomes singular pieces, tremendously three-dimensional as well as “transparent” and with a strong presence in space.
