H Muebles
The firm H Muebles was founded in 1958 by the Huarte family, whose members supported the development of modern architecture in Spain in the 1950s. Thus, the same postulates that they applied to the construction of their buildings were incorporated into the design and production of the furniture destined to furnish them.
At the head of H Muebles were Juan Huarte and Gregorio Vicente Cortés from the beginning, who collaborated with numerous national technicians and artists to achieve the rationalization and formal and technical renovation of furniture for homes and offices: Jorge Oteiza, Rafael Moneo or Fransciso Javier Sáenz de Oiza, among others.
During the 1960s, H Muebles spread a refined and functional design, with unusual forms and materials at the time, by calling design competitions, participating in national and international exhibitions, creating its own network of stores and encouraging the manufacture of cheap furniture for the homes of the majority of Spanish families.
