Ebonized Wood and Rush Chair
C. 1960
A classic of popular furniture from the sixties and seventies. Manufactured by hand, the structure of these chairs is made of solid ebonized pine wood and the seat and back of braided cattail.
Its design resembles Charlotte Perriand's reinterpretation of the traditional French chair in the “Bauche no. 19” and “Dordogne”.
Its formal and material austerity provides a warm counterpoint to modern interiors.
