BKF Lounge Chair

Bonet, Kurchan & Ferrari-Hardoy / Ededis - C. 1938

In 1938 the Austral Group composed of Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, among others, designed this original and iconic chair.

Starting from a simple design concept and realized with great economy of means, the BKF, also called “Butterfly” for its butterfly shape with open wings, proposes a new way of sitting, or rather, multiple ways of sitting. . This is its main contribution to the world of chairs.

A large piece of natural leather in the shape of a butterfly is suspended on a light structure of crisscrossed iron rod painted in black and finished with rubber-rubber tips.

The BKF became an icon of the 1950s and has been one of the most copied designs in history.

The structure of this copy is part of the production of the publisher Ededis from the early 1990s and the leather seat of the Barcelona firm Isist Atelier.
