Low Chair mod. 172
Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - c. 1960
Throughout his career, the Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had an interest in the design and production of simple and austere furniture designed for a wide audience. In his designs he used traditional and durable materials, such as natural wood, manila cane, cattail or textiles.
The model 172 low chair is made up of a pine wood structure with a beveled backrest and a braided bulrush seat and represents a clear will to recover and update the popular wood and bulrush chair, perfectly synthesizing the ideas of its author of simplicity and modernity.
