Pair of Low Lounge Chairs mod. 172

Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - c. 1960

The Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had throughout his career an interest in designing and producing simple and austere furniture conceived for a broad audience. In his designs, he used traditional and durable materials such as natural wood, manila cane, rush, or textiles.

The low chair model 172 is made up of a pine wood frame with a beveled backrest and woven rush seat and represents a clear intention to recover and update the popular wooden and rush chair, perfectly synthesizing its creator's ideals of simplicity and modernity.
