Pair of Dordogne Style Dining Chairs
at. Charlotte Perriand - c. 1950
Pair of chairs attributed to the iconic French designer Charlotte Perriand.
This is the model Dordogne, which embodies a natural and avant-garde approach at the same time, with an oak wood structure, formed by sturdy legs joined by thin horizontal slats. The seats and backs are made of woven rush.
Contemporary design cannot be understood without her figure. Charlotte Perriand (Paris, 1903-1999) is a full member of that avant-garde cultural movement which, since the early decades of the 20th century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave rise to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life.
