Pair of typical armchairs from traditional Balearic chair-making with popular roots, which Torres Clavé reinterpreted in 1934 from a rationalist perspective.

Made of varnished wood and braided rope on the seat and backrest. 

An armchair that, due to its functional and aesthetic qualities and its particular history, has become an icon of modern Spanish design.

Esta butaca formó parte del equipamiento mobiliario del patio-auditorio del pabellón de la República de París de 1937, diseñado por Josep Lluís Sert, donde compartió espacio con el Guernica de Pablo Picasso, la Font de Mercuri de Alexander Calder y otras obras notables de Joan Miró y Alberto Sánchez.
