DISA Ceiling Lamp

José Antonio Coderch - 1957

The Disa lamp, also known as the Coderch lamp, is one of the lighting design icons of the second half of the 20th century.

Designed by the architect José Antonio Coderch in 1957, it consists of a slightly flattened globe at the top and bottom formed by twelve slats of white translucent methacrylate joined by two black rings and three rods.

The arrangement of the slats from two layers and two sizes allows you to see the illuminated interior part of the exterior ones while the interior ones cast a slight shadow.

This lamp tries and manages to generate a sensation of great warmth and is a good example of the continuous process of refinement of forms, techniques and materials with which the architect tried to achieve greater simplicity and functionality of the objects.

Coderch incorporated it into many of his interior design projects and established itself as a reference design for young architects of the time in search of architectural modernization.
