Lacquered Iron and Opaline Floor Lamp

Eva Renée Nele Bode / Temde - c. 1960

Floor lamp designed by Eva Renée Nele Bode in the 1960s and produced by the Swiss company Temde.

Based on an elegant lacquered iron shaft with a round base supporting six horizontal elements arranged in a spiral and finished with opaline globes that provide warm, ambient light.

Belongs to the Space Age movement, a name given to the period when the space race began, starting in 1957 with the launch of Sputnik. This fever to conquer space also influenced design, and during the sixties and seventies, a decoration style based on an idyllic vision of the future was developed.
