Set of Four Tonneau Chairs
Pierre Guariche / Steiner - c. 1950
Set of four Tonneau, chairs, designed by Pierre Guariche for the Steiner company in the early 1950s.
The result of the intensive research the French creator carried out alongside other pioneers of French industrial design in the postwar period, this model stands out for its innovative use of molded plywood to create an ergonomically designed, enveloping shell. The formal lightness of its legs and the purity of its lines made these pieces true icons of mid-20th-century residential modernity.
