Pair of Pine and Rush Dining Chairs mod. 183
Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - 1961
The Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had throughout his career an interest in designing and producing simple and austere furniture intended for a broad audience. In his designs, he used traditional and durable materials such as natural wood, manila cane, rush, or textiles.
The chair mod. 183 designed in 1961 consists of a pine wood frame with a beveled backrest and woven rush seat, clearly reflecting a desire to recover and update the traditional wooden and rush chair, perfectly synthesizing the author's ideals of simplicity and modernity.
