Pair of Pine Armchairs

Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - C. 1960

Throughout his career, the Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had an interest in the design and production of simple, austere furniture conceived for a wide audience. In his designs he used traditional and durable materials, such as natural wood, manila cane, cattail or textiles.

This chair with armrests, designed in the sixties, is made up of a pine wood structure with a beveled back and a seat made of webbing and foam and upholstered in dark gray cotton fabric.

It perfectly synthesizes the author's ideology of simplicity and modernity.
