Set of Six Aresta Dining Chairs

Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - 1961

Throughout his career, the Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had an interest in the design and production of simple and austere furniture conceived for a wide audience. In his designs he used traditional and durable materials, such as natural wood, manila cane, cattail or textiles.

The "Aresta" chair designed in 1961 is made up of a pine wood structure with a beveled back and a braided cattail seat and represents a clear desire to recover and update the popular chair made of wood and cattail, perfectly synthesizing the ideology of its author of simplicity and modernity.
