Oak and Rush Dining Chairs mod. 186
Joaquim Belsa Aldea / Aresta - 1961
The Catalan industrial designer Joaquim Belsa Aldea (1929-2018) had throughout his career an interest in designing and producing simple and austere furniture conceived for a broad audience. In his designs, he used traditional and durable materials such as natural wood, manila cane, rush, or textiles.
The chair mod. 186 designed in 1961 consists of an oak wood frame with a beveled backrest and woven rush seat and represents a clear intention to recover and update the popular wooden and rush chair, perfectly synthesizing its author's ideal of simplicity and modernity.
